The department of Clinical Haematology and Bone Marrow Transplant at Quaid-e-Azam International Hospital inaugurated on December 21, 2018 by Dr Shaukat Ali Bangash CEO -QIH. The department has been established with the aim to provide state of the art facilities for bone marrow and stem cell transplant (BMT) and to establish tertiary care centre for blood diseases. This will help to fill the gap for management of blood diseases and bone marrow transplant in the country. The department consist of dedicated bone marrow transplant ICU, peri-transplant section, day-care and OPD. There are only five centres that are regularly performing bone marrow transplant in Pakistan and even less that can provide comprehensive facilities for management of blood diseases. Many patients go abroad for the treatment of blood diseases. The needy patients run from pillar to post for treatment of serious blood diseases.
